Hollywood beckons

The Fresh Expressions DVD clip of Messy Church that you can find on our home page has been an excellent tool for introducing the concept and giving people an idea of the sheer chaos that is Messy Church. But it's about five years old now and things have changed massively on the Messy scene in the meantime. So thanks to the generosity of an indiviudal and a trust, BRF and Treehouse Productions have started to put together a new Messy Church DVD. More about the details later, but just to celebrate the fact that we had the first day of filming in Leith in Edinburgh last week at Elizabeth Youngson's church and had us a ball!

The leaders and congregation members were so articulate and confident in front of a camera, it makes me wonder if they were secret (theologically trained) actors shipped in by Central Casting. The whole event was colourful and vibrant and cheerful and somehow just very 'real', very genuine, and thoroughly enjoyable. We relished it all, from the warm unflustered welcome, through the quick-fire painting of lions, the buzzy celebration and the party-like tea of homemade soup and sandwiches. I just hope Lars and Matt, the fim crew who captured it all, don't have arm-ache from lugging all their cameras and sound recording equipment up and down stairs all afternoon.

More tales from the big screen in June when we film in London.
