We’ve been having a happy time over the last few months shooting at various generous and forbearing Messy Churches for the DVD which will be hitting the box office sometime in the winter. We’ve filmed so far in Edinburgh, Morden and Yeovil, with Barham, Liverpool and Hartlepool still to come. I think the kitchen teams are among the most remarkable people in the world, and definitely among the most bashful. And how come when I go in front of a camera I’m reduced to gibberingly self-conscious incoherence, while every single Messy Church leader and team member we’ve filmed has been a model of articulacy, theological acuity and unselfconscious enthusiasm? Is this fair?
