Great to hear from Chris Barton in Shetland about their third session of Messy Church in Scalloway. She also has a suggestion about music, which might be useful for those of us trying to find music suitable for all ages. Obviously it won't suit every church, but the day someone finds a worship song that nobody grumbles about will be the day the waters cover the sea.
Chris writes:
'Messy Church grew again with more adults coming along, some dads with the rest of the family. We hit the dizzy heights of 52 on Sunday and did Bible seasides, 99 icecream cones for pudding, YUM!
With regard to taking faith back into the home we are giving 'Big Family of God' to all families, the songs have fitted in well and we have a brochure with fun activites at home to continue what we discover together. Becky Drake is my niece and Owen was talking to her about Messy Church and so she and Nick are intersted in discovering more as they are in the process of a third album. Their heart is for worship songs which are not twee but accessible for all ages together so that adults can sing and worship and children are able to enter into worship rather than just actions and singing. Becky's website is here if you are interested.
Tons of blessings and thanks for Messy Church
