Messy Church

Fresh ideas for building a Christ-centred community

Church Army Messy Church

Date:Saturday, 28 April 2018 - 10:00am to 2:30pm
Venue:Wilson Carlile Centre in Sheffield, S3 7RZ

We'd love you to be involved in helping us investigate how people of all ages can become disciples of Jesus through Messy Churches.

Church Army's Research Unit have already interviewed nearly 200 Anglican Messy Church leaders to capture their insights, and we're now planning some less traditional Messy-appropriate methods with attenders!

We're inviting you to join us on Saturday 28 April, at the Wilson Carlile Centre in Sheffield, from 10.00 am to 2.30 pm for a Messy Saturday complete with crafts, activities, worship, hot dogs and ice cream! While you play and create, we'll ask you some questions.

If you are within travelling distance, will you help us by coming along and being our research participants? Let us know by emailing ask@churcharmy.org or phoning on 0114 278 7020. We can contribute to travel expenses.

Criteria for research participants

As this is a formal piece of research, we have to set certain parameters to ensure we gather meaningful data.

Your Messy Church meets monthly (or at least 10 times a year).

  • It is either an Anglican Messy Church, or an ecumenical Messy Church that includes an Anglican partner.
  • For the attenders you bring, both adults and children, your Messy Church is either their main experience of church, or the only church activity they go to.
  • They are regular attenders, who have been part of your Messy Church for a while.
  • The children need to be no younger than 4 and no older than 16 to take part, and each of them needs to be accompanied by an adult family member or carer who attends your Messy Church.
