Welcome Tarnya Burge as new Messy Church Regional Coordinator for South Auckland, New Zealand. The New Zealand team of Regional Coordinators keeps on growing!

Tarnya says, 'I live in South Auckland and I love Messy Church because it is a way of being and doing church that accepts our Messy lives and waits on the Holy Spirit to bring transformation. I was involved in starting a Messy Church in 2011, a little while after my husband, the pastor of our small church, died. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Messy Church was the only form of church in which I felt at rest; I didn't feel like half a couple. Messy Church is fun, my children love it and I found a place to serve. The intergenerational community was a great support to myself and my eight children. I was especially appreciative of men in the church who came alongside my sons to support them. I find Messy Church provides a place to express a wider diversity of emotions in our relationship with God and in fellowship with one another. I am now involved in a multicultural Messy Church as part of a church plant in Ormiston, East Auckland.

'I look forward to learning from each other and supporting one another as we seek to develop Messy Church communities that are Christ-centred, for all ages and are based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.'
