The Huddersfield Methodist Circuit recently held a networking event to support and encourage those leading Messy Church within our local area.

It proved to be a HUGE success, hosting approximately 35 attendees, representing 12 different churches across the Circuit, including ecumenical partnerships.

Everybody had lots of fun trying out a wide range of Messy Church activities which they were then able to take away with them. These included rescuing Jonah from “jelly” inside the whale, making “stained glass” light holders, aeroplane prayers and The Good Samaritan life size board game to name but a few!

It also provided the opportunity for people to share their Messy Church stories and experiences, learning from each other wherever they are up to on their Messy Church journeys. Special thanks go out to Rev Colin Blake, West Yorkshire Rep for Messy Church, for his valuable input and support.

As a result of Messy Xchange, I will now be looking into creating a bank of Circuit resources and a Messy Church page/link on the Circuit website where people can post ideas and successes – watch this space!

It’s fantastic to see so much energy and enthusiasm for Messy Church around the Circuit and hope this will encourage others in making positive connections between families and church.
