Messy Church

Fresh ideas for building a Christ-centred community

We used the song 'Remember me' as part of our Good Friday family time

We had a fantastic time at Messy Church on 17 March, exploring the story of Moses in Egypt!

Messy Church appeared on BBC South Today recently.

Thanks to Mike Brydon and his team for this very wacky video clip to promote their Messy Church in South Shields. It starts, 'So you think church is boring?' Huge fun, thank you!

Mike sent a very excited email after their first one in November:

Fresh Expressions in Germany have made a great video of Susanne Paul's Messy Church (complete with Hedwig the Hen). Please forward this to any friends and relatives in Germany, Switzerland or Austria.

There's a brief glimpse of the ecumenical Messy Church on An Island Parish from Sark this last Friday - catch it on BBC iPlayer on the BBC2 listing. It looks as if the programme-makers are trying to turn it into a battleground between the traditionalists and the Messy Church congregation, judging by the interview they include straight after the Messy Church clip (about 8'13'' in).

The Revd Grant Barclay has been filming Messy Church practitioners in Aberdeen and has shared the results with us. Do check out the link to YouTube - there are some wonderful people sharing their experiences. Grant explains:

Our most recent Messy Church event at Dapto Uniting (NSW, Australia) focused on the Parable of the Wise & Foolish Builders.

Praise God - we more than doubled our numbers this time!

Upon arrival, our families were greeted by witches hats, hazard tape, hard hats and fluoro vests galore!

Steven Haddow emails: Greetings from Banchory East Church, Aberdeenshire... check out all the fun we had this week at Messy Church on 31 Oct 2011.

Have you come across Phoenix Community Ministry in Montreal? They too are very messy in their approach and have centred church around families instead of trying to wrap families around church - take a look at their video below:
